It's July already . . . Hey Las Vegas!

Hey Everyone . . . and Welcome to “What to do In Vegas”

It’s just another great day here in Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada! The temperature is hovering around 100 dees-grees, the sun is out, the slot machines are whirring and all is well with the world. Except for Real Estate, of course. If you’re looking for a deal, now is the time folks! We’ve got $300,000 houses now selling below $100,000! I figure if you’ve got $100,000 in cash right now, buy 2 houses, rent them out for $1,000 apiece and now you’ve got a solid $2,000 positive cash flow every month. Buy 2 more and you’ve got $4,000 a month. And that’s how the rich get richer! Contact your favorite real estate agent to get more details.

And let’s take a moment to look up to the heavens and give Ms. Farrah Fawcett and King Michael Jackson a real big smile! We love ya both and hope you’ll finally find peace, love and everything else that made you feel safe and warm.

Please see the extensive blog at Farrah and Michael.

So let’s get down to “what to do in Vegas” while you’re here:

“ALL ROADS LEAD TO VEGAS . . . BABY!”

On July 1st (tonite) you’re gonna want to get over to the Hard Rock at Paradise & Harmon. Tonite at 6pm you’re gonna see International Singing Sensation BofA. Not only does she sing like a bird she’ll hang around afterwards for a meet and greet and sign copies of her new self-titled CD.

And then quick, get over to “The Elegant Universe”, a John Bell Solo Exhibition, on Thursday, July 2nd. Meet and greet at 7-10pm for wine and hors d’oeuvres in the fab Newport Lofts, Penthouse Suite 2109, 200 Hoover Ave, Las Vegas 89101. Valet parking is provided. Please RSVP Brett Wesley Sperry or Victoria Hart at 702.433.4433 or inquire@brettwesley.com. See ya’ll there.

Then you’ve got to see Beyonce! Only 4 nites at Encore, July 30th thru August 2nd.

And then don’t blink! Rod Stewart is at the MGM Grand on August 1st.

It’s party time for Blondie! She’s 64 today (July 1st) and looks like she’s 28 so no frowns Blondie! Happy Birthday and Keep Up The Good Work!

And Jackson Browne is at Red Rock Casino on August 15th . . . be there or be square!

If you’re still alive at this point, don’t miss the B-52s at Pure Nightclub. Tickets can be had at Caesars Palace Box Office or call 702.866.1400. Yes, B-52s at Pure on Saturday, July 18th; 9pm show is on the Terrace. And remember Pure: proper attire required. More info at www.PureTheNightclub.com. “At the love shack . . .!”

When you’re ready for a really great dinner, that is old Vegas, in location, price and ambiance, then stop by the World Famous Binion’s Ranch Steakhouse. It’s the only restaurant in town that we frequent regularly. (You can still hear the Rat Pack tying one on at the Bar). The food is not overpriced and every bite is indeed a real good time; you’ll want to wipe the plate clean like a kid when your Mom was making brownies. Recommendations: their Lobster Bisque; the Filet Mignon with or without the Australian Lobster Tail; the Prime Rib of course (melts in your mouth) and I dare you to try the 21 ounce Porterhouse Steak. The other dare is the Prime Rib with Roquefort dressing. Call them 702.382.1600 or take the Private Elevator inside Binion’s Casino at 1128 Fremont Street, right in the heart of the Fremont Experience.

Las Vegas Locals Only: How About taking the Kiddies to see The Blue Man Group at 7pm and 10pm shows. Mention “Kids Free” to receive this offer at The Venetian. 702.414.9000 or 1.800.BLUEMAN. You’ll have to show your local ID at any Venetian/Palazzo Box Office. Buy one full-price ticket and get a child’s ticket FREE. Valid for kids ages 3-12. Children under 3 are free but must sit on a paying adult’s lap. Restrictions apply, of course. See Box Office for details.

And in closing and in general, how about a big KUDOS for our illustrious Mayor Oscar Goodman at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new performing arts center, aptly named “The Smith Center for the Performing Arts”, located at Bonneville Avenue and Grand Central Parkway. Among the other dignitaries on hand were Don Snyder, the Center’s Chairman and Fred W. Smith, Chairman of the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, and his wife Mary, for whom the new Center is named. Also in attendance was Representative Shelley Berkley, entertainers Clint Homes and Susan Anton, as well as numerous Members of the Clark County School Board and the Las Vegas City Council.
The new Center will house the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the Nevada Ballet Theatre.
The Center is anchored by a 2,050 seat main Theatre and will also include an Education Facility, a Cabaret Theatre, as well as temporary spaces for a myriad of other nonpermanent activities.

Kudos again to Mayor Goodman and all others involved!

Remember, ALL ROADS LEADS TO VEGAS!

Oh, and one more thing: when you’re having a bad day, just remember you’re not alone: “Everyone has an adopted red-haired child that they just can’t scrape off the bottom of their shoe . . .”
